Week 8 Recap + Week 9 Waiver Wire

Week 8 Recap + Week 9 Waiver Wire

Injuries

    • Aaron Jones (calf)
      • They play TNF, could be a problem for him to miss his 3rd straight. AJ Dillon is on COVID IR - if Jamaal Williams made contact, they could be without him too..
    • TY Hilton (groin)
      • Groin strain: "I believe he suffered either a Grade 1 or Grade 2 groin strain. A Grade 1 strain would cost him 1-2 weeks, and a Grade 2 strain would cost him 3-6 weeks." He's been terrible so nothing major to report here.
      • Snaps went: Pascal (58), Marcus Johnson (48), Pittman (45). So you have your top 3. Targets went in that order: 6, 4, 1.
      • Pascal is going to be the possession guy, he's a fill-in shit flex play they play BAL next week. But Marcus Johnson is kind of intriguing
      • The guy now has 7 catches of 20+ yards this year, he's only played 4 games. He has a 26% air yard share on the team (not accounting for this week). So if you're looking for an upside play, someone who is playing a full snap-share, Johnson is intriguing.
      • Pittman was a fun prospect, but he hasn't done anything on an nfl field yet that says he's worth rostering.
    • Kenny G (hip)
      • A lot of the time they interchange hip and groin together, so it's possible it's the same thing as Hilton, groin strain, depending on the severity either grade 1 or 2 it will be anywhere from 1-6 weeks max.
      • Already ruled out for Week 9 vs. MIN.
      • Nothing I want here, just stonks up for Hockenson.
      • If Marvin Jones was dropped in your league, he's the obvious add.
    • Henderson (thigh)
      • he had a thigh injury on the injury report, we dont know if it was a new one or a re-injury
      • not significant most likely, they have a bye this week, so let him rest up I think he'll be able to play in week 10, so im not rushing out for either guy unless we hear news that says otherwise
    • Tevin Coleman (knee)
      • Re-injures the same knee he was rehabbing through.
      • We'll see if he gets put byke on the IR, but likely to miss time.
      • He was getting a lot of work before the injury, but it looks like we're byke to Hasty and McKinnon again.
      • Mostert's on the IR for another week at least, Wilson for a few more.
      • I think it's pretty clearly Hasty's backfield right now.
      • In the first half, Hasty had 11 touches to McKinnon's 2 (for -1 yards)
      • The 49ers got down 30-7, Nick Mullens went in and the entire 2H was garbage time where MCK went 4-40 through the air.
      • They get a tasty matchup vs. GB at home in Week 9.
    • George Kittle (foot)
      • negative x rays ???
      • now it's saying there's a small fracture in his foot, will miss extended time. - damn we got 8 weeks
    • Jimmy G (ankle)
      • Same game, jimmy g does his usual thing where we question why he's on an NFL field, then he re-injures the high ankle sprain he just got byke from.
      • Nick Mullens comes off the bench heroically, throws for 238 and 2 scores naturally.
      • Now, they play on Thursday night, so there's a good chance he's not ready for Week 9. They play @ NO in week 10 and then they get their bye. It's possible we don't see him until Week 12, so monitor reports and grab Mullens in SF leagues.

    Committee or Titty

    • JTaylor vs J. Wilkins vs. Hines
      • Going into yesterday, if I told you that the Colts would have the RB6 and RB7 in fantasy on the week, JT owners woulda lost their shit. The Colts did. They also had the RB45 (barring MNF).... That was Jonathan Taylor.
      • Like, I'm not happy Jonathan Taylor is busting, but I can't say I'm not. Only because fantasy twitter was literally unbearable talking about Jonathan Taylor this spring/summer. If Taylor wasn't your 1.01, you're an idiot. He's Saquon Barkley with more production.
      • Lot of people looking dumb af right now.
      • And I own Taylor in dynasty, in one league I think. Him and Zeke were supposed to be my RB1 and 2 this year lol, that's working verrry nice.
      • And the nice part about it is, you don't have any excuses for Taylor. The team, the offensive line, an injury, all this. Like he clearly had the workhorse role locked up if he played any semblance of well, and he hasn't.
      • When Jordan Wilkins outplays you, there's something we missed.
      • You know, and I tweeted this out during the games, that if Marlon Mack never got hurt, Taylor would probably have been the worst 3rd round pick in fantasy drafts this summer.
      • Yesterday was supposed to be Taylor's coming out party, against the Lions - who were bottom 5 in FPs allowed to RBs.
      • But nope. JT goes 11-22 on the ground.
      • Jordan Wilkins on the other hand gets 20 carries, 89 yards and a tug, turns one target into a 24-yard catch. He leads the backfield with 39 snaps, JT has 26, Hines had 16, but caught 3-of-5 targets for 54 yards two touchdowns and he's doing all types of weird shit in the endzone celebrating.
      • They've gotten to face CLV, CIN, DET in three straight. Taylor as scored once, averaging 14 touches and 73 total yards.
      • I know everyone wants him to get in a groove and get 20 carries, but like, he's not doing well at all on the carries he's getting in. That would straight up be bad coaching, and yall just want to satisfy your fantasy needs.
      • What can we expect going forward.
      • Well, this was concerning for sure. Wilkins was a non-factor and coming out of the bye you'd think maybe they'd let Taylor rip, but this looked very much like a hot-hand. And if they did it once, they'll do it again.
      • Their next 6 games: BAL, TEN, GB, TEN, HOU, LV, HOU, PIT
      • Definitely some good matchups in their, but these last three were supposed to be those.
      • I'm not running out to grab Wilkins with all my FAAB, but he's someone to have on your bench. We know what Wilkins is, he's a grinder. I'd be surprised if Taylor doesn't still lead this backfield on the ground going forward in terms of touches, but it's messy and you probably can't look at him as anything more than a low-end RB2 at this point.
      • Don't be fooled by the flash of Hines either, he played 16 snaps.
      • This is what we saw in Week 1, when he scored two touchdowns, everyone went nuts, and then he went five straight games without scoring and being terrible until yesterday. I'll pass on him.
    • Singletary vs. Moss
      • I mean the story of this RBBC as we expected is Moss getting the valuable touches near the EZ. Scores twice on the ground, strings together byke to byke good performances, 21 for 128 on the ground over the last two weeks.
      • This was the first time all year Moss out-snapped Singletary, and ran the same number of routes, so he's the one I want to own going forward.
    • Swift vs. AP vs Kerryon
      • It is exactly what we thought it was. And that's that we have no fucking clue what it is.
      • Jamal Agnew led the Lions backfield in rushing yesterday, with one carry for 11 yards.
      • They do get the Vikings next week, who can obviously be beat through the air, and Golladay will likely be missing, he missed week 1 and 2, Swift had 5 targets in both of those games.
    • Dobbins vs. Gus
      • Gus had 16 carries
        • Ingram has had 16 or more carries twice since he's been in baltimore
        • gus has 0 receptions on the year
      • Dobbins balled too
      • Dobbins has looked so good on his limited work. He goes 15 for 113 on the ground, caught a pass for 8 yards.
      • Against PIT, brutal matchup but no problem for them. Great to see.
      • Hadn't allowed 80+ on the ground to a RB, both did it.
      • Now they play @IND another tough matchup.
      • The Colts are 31st in FPs allowed to RBs, like i said they just had Jamal Agnew led the Lions backfield with 11 yards. With Darius Leonard healthy, this unit is a different beast.
      • Justin Jackson vs Josh Kelley
      • Damien Harris vs. Rex Burkhead vs. James White

      Welcome Byke

      • Dalvin Cook big byke. The week winner, opponent's done like dinner
      • Dallas Goedert byke, ran a route on 84% of dropbacks. Have a bye in Week 9, but if Ertz is still out...
      •

      Notes

      Tua makes first start

      • absolutely sammied on his first play
      • Brian Flores = coach of the year
      • got the W but my guy actually averaged like deadeass 4.0 ypa yo. Almost had to put my timberlands on just to say that.
      • It's a downgrade for the Miami pass-catchers for the time being.

      Corey Davis

      • New DeVante Parker?

      Jarvis Landry

      • I guy I said was a good buy-low given no OBJ, now they have their bye, and SOS going forward is juicy. This was the perfect game to come off of to buy-low on. He had 11 targets, didn't produce much, had a TD called back, like should've been a big day but wasn't.
      • Gets the bye to rest up and I expect a ton of targets for Landry over the 2H of the year.
